Opera Idaho’s most beloved summer tradition is back! Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 21, 2025 as we present the 5th annual Opera in the Park at Julia Davis Park—a free, family-friendly evening of live music as the sun sets behind the Gene Harris Bandshell.
This year’s concert features a thrilling mix of favorite opera and musical theatre selections performed by the Opera Idaho Orchestra and Opera Idaho Chorus, conducted by our Music Director and Principal Conductor Andy Anderson.
Hosting the evening are two audience favorites: our Artistic Advisor and soprano Cecilia Violetta López and celebrated local mezzo-soprano Michele Detwiler, both known for their warmth, humor, and captivating stage presence.
Featured soloists:
- María Belén Rivarola, internationally acclaimed Argentinian soprano and a soloist and member of the ensemble at Buenos Aires’ renowned Teatro Colón.
- María Dominique López, a dynamic mezzo-soprano making her Opera Idaho debut, known for representing her Mexican-American heritage in Disney/Pixar’s Coco.
- Isaac Hurtado, tenor recently seen as Alfredo in La traviata, with acclaimed performances across the U.S.
- Jeffrey Seppala, baritone and local favorite, also Assistant Professor of Voice and Director of Opera & Musical Theatre at Boise State University.
And don’t miss a special performance from our very own General Director Stacey Trenteseaux, taking the stage for this one-night-only event.
Whether you’re an opera lover, musical theatre fan, or just looking for a great summer night out, Opera in the Park is for everyone. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket or chair, enjoy treats from food trucks and a wine and beer garden, and join us as the sun sets and the music soars.
Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks! This is one summer night you won’t want to miss!
