Statewide Outreach Efforts
McCall
For several seasons Opera Idaho has been invited to participate in McCall’s Second Sunday Sounds concert series. Each fall, Opera Idaho presents a free concert in Boise featuring works by living composers featuring the the singers in our Emerging Artists Program. This same program travels to McCall to participate in their free concert series.
Ketchum
During the 2017-18 season Opera Idaho presented a semi-staged production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at The Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood. This was the third time Opera Idaho performed in Ketchum; previous performances included Tosca and La Traviata. Our former General Director, Mark Junkert, often traveled to Ketchum to present free lectures at The Community Library.
Pocatello
Opera Idaho has brought fully staged performances to Pocatello along with our free school tour production. On November 3, 2017 Opera Idaho’s closing performance of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore took place in Pocatello, in the beautiful Stephens Performing Arts Center on the campus of Idaho State University. We have also visited elementary & middle schools in Blackfoot and Pocatello with our school tour production of The Elixir of Love. In 2015, Opera Idaho performed a fully staged performance of Mozart’s The Magic Flute and toured schools with the Mini Magic Flute. Our first visit to Pocatello was in 2013 with a performance of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and visited Pocatello once again during our 2018-2019 season with our education outreach program.
