Announcing the 2026-2027 Season:

UNRAVELED

Our 2026–2027 season, Unraveled, explores what happens when the structures we rely on most are pushed to their limits. Across three productions, passions intensify, carefully held beliefs begin to shift, and the boundaries between performance and reality grow unexpectedly thin. Some unravelings happen in a flash. Others emerge slowly, almost imperceptibly. Each reveals something deeply human.

The Abduction

Unraveled Control

Mozart’s sparkling comedy The Abduction from the Seraglio (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) follows Belmonte as he attempts to rescue his beloved Konstanze from the palace of the powerful Pasha Selim. With the help of his clever servant Pedrillo, he sets a daring escape plan in motion. But inside the palace, personalities clash, loyalties shift, and authority is constantly tested. As carefully laid plans begin to falter, wit and compassion reshape the outcome. In this brilliant Mozart comedy, control slowly unravels as mercy and humanity prove stronger than pride and power.

Pagliacci

Unraveled Love

A traveling troupe arrives to perform a lively comedy about love and betrayal. But backstage, the actors’ own relationships are under strain. When Canio begins to doubt his wife Nedda’s loyalty, jealousy seeps into the performance itself. As the play unfolds before an unsuspecting audience, the boundary between actor and character begins to dissolve. What starts as entertainment slowly becomes something far more dangerous. In Pagliacci, love unravels in public, revealing how quickly passion can turn to obsession when truth can no longer be separated from performance.

La bohème

Unraveled Reason

In a cold Paris attic, a group of young artists embrace life with passion, humor, and reckless optimism. When the poet Rodolfo falls for the gentle Mimì, their romance blossoms in a world fueled by youth and idealism. But poverty, illness, and time quietly begin to pull at the fragile threads holding their dreams together. Puccini’s beloved masterpiece captures the beauty of love and friendship while revealing how reality slowly unravels the illusions we build in our youth.

The season extends beyond our mainstage productions with two beloved series that bring opera to life in new ways. Our Operatini evenings combine great music, great food, and a relaxed atmosphere. Five are planned for the season, including three connected to our mainstage productions and featuring artists from the cast performing opera, musical theater, and jazz favorites alongside a themed dinner inspired by the night’s program. The Critical Mass Vocal Artists (CMVA) series returns with four concerts highlighting some of the region’s most exciting vocal talent.
