Educational School Tour

Dear Treasure Valley Educators,

Opera Idaho invites you and your students to enjoy a performance of Opera in a Box as part of our educational outreach program introducing opera to youth in our community. To make this performance possible, Opera Idaho would like to visit your school during our special tour.

Written in 2008 by Resident Company mezzo-soprano Tiffany G. Calás, Opera in a Box is an immensely entertaining lesson in opera. With the help of a box filled with costumes and props, four opera singers and a pianist will perform some of opera’s “greatest hits”, while dispelling many typical stereotypes. From Rossini’s The Barber of Seville to Bizet’s Carmen, this outstanding live performance will give your students a fresh look at the art form.

The performances are geared towards grades K-6. The cost is FREE and will run approximately 50 minutes, complete with a question and answer session following the performance. Your school will also be provided with a study guide containing information and activities in preparation for our visit.

Tour Dates: May 11-15 & 18-22, 2015
Times: 10:30am and 1:00pm daily, Monday-Friday
